You can practice wearing hijab at home, or even to the store, or to the mosque, whatever you do in regard to hijab is your own personal progression. Every little bit counts. Some wake up one morning and take the leap and say, "hey, today is the day where I'm wearing hijab to work - I'm gonna do it - even I'm nervous and afraid about what my friends will think and my boss, my co workers - I'm still gonna do it inshallah - Pray for that conviction and inshallah you'll wake up with it one day something special will just happen.
A sister I was talking to at one time says her conviction changed when she looked up at the stars and said "what am I doing????" and soon after she began to wear the hijab - mashallah:)
