Thank you for looking to ISHARS Online c/o for advice on hijab and for your on-going support. We get a lot of questions on how to wear hijab and how to get that certain look.
One question we get is: -How to get the triangle corner of the hijab on the back -How to get the fringes of the shayla at the side and some other questions too...
There are 2 main ways to get a certain look with the hijab: 1. It depends on how much hijab is on either side of your head before you begin wrapping it. It's a different look if one side is longer than the other, or one side is at its complete end so that you have most of the length of the hijab or shayla on one side of the head and the other very little. After you start wrapping it..you can see what look you'll come up with. I like to go with the tight and tapered look..or sometimes looser can look nice as well. If your shayla has fringes, depending on how long one side of the scarf is, will influence where the fringes will end up. Experiment and have fun with it:)
2. It also depends on where you pin the hijab first:
A. Under the chin - which is the most common, with square hijabs and shaylas
B.Behind the head - You can only pull this off by using a shayla. A square hijab is much too short for this unless you're petite or a child.
What to use? Always a good quality oval pin if you want to retain the condition of your beautiful scarf. Oval pins are meant to be worn under the chin, behind the head or at the back area of the head. You wanna do your best to avoid holes, tears and snags because that beautiful hijab will soon end up a beautiful cleaning rag;)heheh.
3. The use of Stick pins or not - can affect the look of your scarf as well. There are somethings you can do with a straight pin than you can do with an oval pin. i.e. If you put an oval pin at the side of your head..it may look a little funny (like a black beetle on your head;) but a straight pin would be perfect. Straight pins can give that finishing touch to a beautiful you.
