Thank you for joining our Hijab Support Group and inshallah you will find this group helpful. Don't forget that you can email us anytime at hijabsupport@thecanadianmuslim.ca for any advice regarding wearing hijab and we will respond within 48 hours inshallah.
The purpose of this newsletter is to talk a little bit about ones level of self-worth or esteem can relate to the topic of wearing hijab. Let us take a minute to think about what the term "self-worth" means to us... The term "self-worth" refers to how you value yourself and what you feel you deserve. Valuing who you are and what you are capable of from your own potential as a human being. You may be creative, great in math, ambitious, caring and a lot of other kinds of characteristics that makes up who you are as an individual. But there are cases where amazing people like yourselves, have these characteristics and still feel that they are not deserving of good treatment and opportunity and this is where the "self-worth" comes in. Some people who begin to wear hijab, don't realize it, but find that just thinking about it, their "self-worth" goes down the tubes, and convince themselves that they are not worthy of good treatment or opportunity simply because of worried thoughts of what other people are thinking about their wearing hijab. The ticker is that most people will respond to this insecurity and act in according to it. So generally, Life and people, will respond to how you value yourself and what you feel you deserve....self-worth.
So sisters, believe in yourself and value yourself as a beautiful, intelligent, educated, caring, religious, and all that good stuff kind of individual, and make a decision to value what you are worth from now on. If someone disagrees with an opinion you have, don't sweat it, because all that really matters is what you think and believe about yourself, so don't take it on and believe in yourself.
Sisters who wear hijab are just as worthy of good treatment and opportunity as anyone else. Believe it, and reflect it in how you act and speak in respect and people will respect it inshallah. If they don't, don't sweat it, because all that matters is what you think and just let it go and move on. And don't let what someone else thinks hold you back from being who Allah s.w.t. created in you.
So let us end this newsletter and repeat after me: I am making a choice to value myself, and what I feel I deserve, and I am worthy of any opportunity I choose {*smile*}
