Today's bi-weekly hijab tip is to talk about our beloved accessory known as the "hijab pin". Elhamduliah, hijab pins have been created for the hijab to avoid damaging its delicate material. However, the safety pin does not promise what it is meant to do which is to be "safe". It protects us from being pricked accidentally, but that is all. Based on my experience with ruining many of my hijabs, is that the material often gets tangled in the coil when you need to take the pin out. Hijab pins in general do not have this flaw, but the ones with poor quality are weak in performance and come un-done under tension. This is because after we wear the pin, the needle portion of the pin is curved because of the tension, which actually shortens the pin in length, causing it to come undone.
The "Good quality Oval Pins", available in 4 colors that we market, will never come undone. Some muslimahs like myself, like to wear my hijab or shayla tight, so it is under tension..and this hijab pin, does the job elhamduliah.
Here's a tip I figured out with using oval pins. To prevent your hijab material from being tangled in the somehow on the pin, squeeze the material on the pin, closest to the coil, and pull the material off the pin as you are squeezing it. This will inshallah prevent those unwanted snags.
