Some of you may have just begun to wear the hijab and may experience resistance from family members. My mother did resist me wearing the hijab and tried to make me feel foolish for wearing it. She said "take that stupid thing off your head". It took a while for her to come around but elhamdulilah she did. Then one day I had the confidence to say "Mom, I am muslim, and I'm going to wear the hijab no matter what". From that day she never bothered me on the subject again:) Subhanallah:) Remember to avoid getting into "retaliation mode" and instead opt for the "rational" and kind approach and be confident in your decision. If someone tries to challenge you saying that wearing the hijab is not mandatory, reply in a rational manner and say "my hijab protects me from being a victem of perversion". And if the person you are speaking to, reflects on that answer, they will see themselves that this point never changes.
